The awards ceremony follows a week of screening films and documentaries that celebrate the talent and accomplishments of women in the film and television industry worldwide and from all walks of life.
Elizabeth Grant is thrilled to be the next recipient of such an important award. “The women honoured at TheWIFTS Foundation International Visionary Awards have diverse backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common – they are all true visionaries making a vast difference in the world,” said Elspeth Tavares, creator of TheWIFTS.
Other honourees include: Nancy Kwan – Lifetime Tribute Award; Tegla Loroupe – Dove Award; Shohreh Aghdashloo - Humanitarian Award; Betty Makoni -Humanitarian Award; Mary McGuckian – Career Achievement Award, Nancy Carter – The Elizabeth Grant Entrepreneur Award, and Christina Jennings – Television Pioneer Award.
Now in her late eighties, Elizabeth is CEO of Elizabeth Grant International, a luxury skin care and cosmetics company. Elizabeth has been a successful female entrepreneur for over 50 years. She started her company in 1958, at a time when it was very unusual and difficult for women to start their own business. Using strong business acumen, creative ideas, and always keeping her goals and dreams in the forefront, she has built an incredibly successful company that is sold worldwide today. Through determination and perseverance she has grown the corporation from an employee of one to a company that employs over 100 full time workers in her state of the art facility located in Toronto, Canada.
Elizabeth may be most recognizable from her television appearances promoting her namesake brand but that is not her only talent. She is also a playwright, a mother and grandmother, a philanthropist who invests a great deal of time and effort in non-profit organizations, and she is also professional lecturer who speaks on success. Elizabeth inspires her audience with stories of the difficulties and hardships she has faced and how she has accomplished her dreams and goals. She also speaks on the obstacles that come alongside being a woman with big dreams in the 1950’s to the different obstacles a woman faces in her vintage years. Elizabeth continues to be successful at age when most retire.
TheWIFTS Foundation International Visionary Awards is the Closing Night Event at the Andaz Hotel Panorama Venue in West Hollywood in which Elizabeth will be honored, among other visionaries making a difference, with the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2009.
