(Davie, Florida--December 14, 2009) GLOOKAST announced today the debut of its operations in the Americas and in Europe.

GLOOKAST develops innovative, modular, and highly customizable tools, which allow the design and implementation of true multi-format, multi-resolution, and multi-vendor digital content workflows. The core of the modular technology that GLOOKAST will soon unveil resides inside GLOOBOX; a configurable MPU (Media Processing Unit) designed for specific media operations. Multi-resolution, multi-codec and multi-channel ingest/outgest, inter-system gateway, media and metadata move and translate are some of the modular applications that GLOOBOX can be configured with.

GLOOKAST Americas is located in Davie, FL - USA. The 6,000 sq ft facilities house the company's development QA, manufacturing, integration, and customer services for the Americas.

GLOOKAST Europe is located in Porto (Portugal). Besides being the main development center, the facilities in Portugal serve the European and African markets.

Guilherme Silva and Ernesto Santos, respectively GLOOKAST’s CEO and CTO head the founder team.

Guilherme Silva is a veteran in the Broadcast industry. Since 1976 he held several engineering and management positions at broadcast facilities and broadcast equipment manufacturers such as TV Globo (Brazil) and Ampex. He was part of the PAL-M design team for products such as Ampex ADO and AVC switcher. In 1988 Guilherme founded CIS Group, a systems integrator currently headquartered in Sunrise (FL-USA). Under his guidance, CIS has been involved in the concept design and integration of a large number of digital media systems for broadcasters and digital content producers in Florida, Caribbean, and Latin America, especially in Brazil. He lives in Weston, FL and has three children.

Guilherme is also a member of the Technology board of SET (Society of Television Engineering) in Brazil. SET was instrumental in the standardization of SBTVD (Brazilian Digital Television System), a technical standard for digital television, used in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and Peru and based on the Japanese ISDB-T standard.

Guilherme Silva holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from University Nuno Lisboa, in Brazil, and a SCPD Certificate from Stanford University.

Ernesto Santos was a co-founder of MOG Solutions. Until 2008, he was Head of Engineering, having managed MXF-based projects and product lines since the early days of MXF. At MOG he also coordinated the team that developed workflow optimization software used by NBC Olympics during the coverage of the Beijing 2008 Olympic games. He was also a major contributor to the design of several award-winning products.

Prior to that Ernesto Santos was involved with research and development associated with file-based workflows at INESC (Portugal), where he worked in close collaboration with leading R&D teams at the IRT (Germany) and BBC R&D (UK).

Ernesto Santos has been an active contributor to Standardization for several years. He is a SMPTE Fellow and is currently Co-Chairman of SMPTE Technical Committee 31FS (File Structures). He also contributed to MPEG (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11). As a member of the Portuguese delegation, he was active in the development of MPEG-7 and MPEG-21. Among other contributions, he was co-editor of MPEG-21 part 2 – Digital Item Declaration.

Mr. Santos holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Porto.

“ The complexity of capturing, sharing, managing and distributing digital content across platforms provided by different vendors has been a very critical factor for broadcasters and content producers. Users want the freedom to select the tools they like, from their vendors of choice”, said Guilherme Silva.

“The real challenge has been to allow such freedom while not preventing users from creating true file-based workflows due to incompatibilities between their tools of choice. GLOOKAST will soon deliver solutions that, by combining proven hardware, software, and network computing technologies, enable digital workflows across multi-vendor products. Our commitment is to serve the market, by combining our long experience in metadata and file processing, standardization, integration and customization, and field service and create products and workflow solutions that fit the requirements of today’s broadcasters and digital content producers”, stated Guilherme Silva.
