(Morgan Hill, California--September 3, 2010) Making its world debut at IBC 2010, Cache-A’s Pro-Cache Library24 Archive Appliance simplifies the archiving of large projects for digital film, broadcast and video professionals working with file-based workflows.
An easy to deploy 24-slot automated library option for Pro-Cache5 and Pro-Cache4 Archive Appliances, the Pro-Cache Library24 automates cartridge loading for archiving, restoring and cartridge spanning when archiving large projects.
Cache-A is featuring the Pro-Cache Library24 at this year’s IBC Conference at RAI Amsterdam in Stand 7.J39 (with Global Distribution, Cache-A’s European distributor), September 10-14.
“As we continue to expand our line of LTO-based archive appliances, we are excited to debut our first product that controls robotic libraries – the Pro-Cache Library24 – at this year’s IBC Conference,” said Phil Ritti, President and CEO of Cache-A Corporation. “This new option for our Pro-Cache product line is a direct result of responding to our customers’ demands for a convenient way to archive large projects to the library while still being able to simultaneously access their content on shelf-stored cartridges.”
The Pro-Cache Library24 works with any Pro-Cache model to automate archival workflows and provide the ultimate in dual drive system flexibility. Two LTO drives means concurrent access to both Pro-Cache Library24 and Pro-Cache tape volumes for twice the archiving power. The LTO drive in the Pro-Cache is always accessible for restoring or archiving shelf-stored content, while the Pro-Cache Library24 drive is always accessible for simultaneously archiving or restoring.
Available in both LTO-5 and LTO-4 configurations, the Pro-Cache Library24 provides 36 Terabytes (TB) of storage for Pro-Cache5 users (Model CA-L5024) and 19 TB of storage for Pro-Cache4 users (Model CA-L4024).
The Pro-Cache Library24 features 24 cartridge slots in two 12-slot magazines with automatic cartridge loading for archiving, tape spanning and content retrieval. It automatically identifies tapes by bar code or each tape’s internal table of contents.
The rack-mountable two rack unit (RU) Pro-Cache Library24 marries perfectly to the three RU half-rack chassis and rack mount kit of the Pro-Cache5 or Pro-Cache4. Simple cabling connects the two devices, with the straightforward configurations and operations retaining Cache-A’s convenient appliance-like usability, including these standard features:
- Access archive directly from any platform
- Easy to use and deploy
- Table of contents on every tape
- Built-in searchable database of all tapes
- Built-in automated archive capability
- Ability to span archives across multiple cartridges
- Standard LTO tape “tar” compatibility
