(Paris France, Hollywood California--April 5, 2011) Technicolor (Euronext Paris: TCH), a worldwide provider of production and post-production services, and Codex Digital, a leading developer of digital media recorders and media management systems for film and television production, today revealed their plans to demonstrate a comprehensive digital production solution at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada April 11-14.

Technicolor’s DP Lights, which will be featured at be featured at Codex Digital’s booth (#C8615) at NAB, is a color-correction and pre-visualization system that allows looks to be created in real-time during principal photography, aiding the DoP adjust for lighting and story subtleties, while capturing the full dynamic range of the camera’s image. Color decisions are saved as an ASC CDL (Color Decision List) and made available immediately to ingest into the Codex Digital system for dailies and media management.

The Codex Digital system will serve as both a resolution independent data storage device as well as a virtual file system to create dailies deliverables with and without the CDL color values applied to the picture. The workflow is designed to provide greater flexibility to the creative team while offering an efficient tapeless workflow for digital finishing at Technicolor.

“The ability to create looks on-set has become an integral part of file-based workflows providing both productivity and creative benefits,” said Marc Dando, managing director of Codex Digital. “We are very pleased to partner with Technicolor to provide the production community with a flexible and efficient color solution that they can depend on.”

“We’ve seen an increase in demand for file based post production with digitally acquired material,” noted Claude Gagnon, president of Technicolor’s Creative Services division. “The integration of DP Lights and the file based Codex system offers clients an efficient workflow while maintaining creative control through final delivery.”
