(Las Vegas: NAB 2012--April 16, 2012) VJ, Orad’s new production server, provides a tapeless workflow from ingest to playout. Ideal for news, live events, soaps, talk shows and other studio productions, VJ’s flexible design supports up to 8 channels that can be arranged in different in/out configurations. VJ will be making its worldwide debut at Orad’s booth (SL4524 ) at NAB 2012.
VJ supports commonly used codecs for fast turnaround productions and post-production workflows, including Panasonic’s DVCPRO, DVCPRO-HD, Avid’s DNxHD, and major wrappers such as Quick Time and MXF. With VJ, ingest clips are immediately available to the entire production environment for previewing, logging, archiving, and editing. VJ seamlessly integrates with industry-standard NLEs including Avid’s Media Composer, Apple’s Final Cut Pro Grass Valley’s Edius, and Adobe’s Premier Pro.
Decreasing operating time is always essential for an efficient production. As VJ enables editing while recording, it significantly reduces the production’s turnaround time. With VJ, the user can create a rough cut and export clips to NLE from a recorded clip without stopping the ingest process. The user can easily create as many clips as he needs and export them in the background with only two clicks of a button.
VJ can be implemented as an ingest station, VTR replacement, QC and log, and in multi camera studios, news, and playout environments. VJ, for example, can be used as an ingest station and ingest 8 channels in parallel from different sources including satellite, VTR tape, cameras, etc. In a news environment, VJ can be used to record and play direct feeds to air.
VJ’s flexible channel configuration includes up to 8 channels of support in different setups including 4 bio directional channels. Video disks can be easily and quickly accessed from the front panel, without removing the server from the rack. To optimize server reliability and redundancy, VJ uses a hot swap power supply and runs on a Linux operating system. VJ is available in either 3U or 1U box in the case of a two channel configuration.
