Softron Media Services Updates Multicam Logger

New Version Adds Compatibility with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Software

(Brussels, Belgium--September 5, 2012) Softron Media Services® will demonstrate its updated version of Multicam Logger at its booth (7.G12) during this year's IBC in Amsterdam. Multicam Logger is an application from Softron Media Services that makes multicam productions easy and cost-effective.

Multicam Logger has been designed to interface directly to the Blackmagic Design ATEM Production Switcher Line or most other switchers. The program and preview input selection on the production switcher is reflected on the Multicam Logger screen and vice-versa. Multicam Logger can also control the switcher using Keyboard inputs or X-keys dedicated keyboards.

When producing a live show, Multicam Logger logs the camera angles that the producer has selected on his vision mixer. Additionally, the producer can add markers and name them. For instance it is possible to reference at what timecode there was an issue in the production (wrong camera, blur, shake, etc,…).

The nice thing about Multicam Logger is that the user is not tied to a recording solution and can select whatever solution is appropriate to record each camera feed. Recording devices can be Softron's MovieRecorder software of course, but it can also be any other solution, such as the AJA KiPro or Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck line of products. Even cameras with built-in memory can be used.

Once the live session has ended, the user selects the files that he wants to associate with each input. The user can then send the multicam directly to Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS6 software to create a multicam clip which combines all of the camera angles. The user can then work as he would with any standard multicam clip to adjust the angle changes or add transitions.

“Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is being used more and more for multicam editing. Multicam editing itself is becoming the differentiating factor in editorial work,” said Pierre Chevalier, Technical Director for Softron Media Services. “One reason is that more live programs are being made available as video-on-demand soon after they are shot. For VOD, a user will want the cleanest edit possible, without all the mistakes inherent to live productions and probably add graphics and effects. The improved ease-of-use and flexibility of multicam editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 allows us to bring more power to multicam logging and editing. Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is not only the market leader, but also growing quickly. That increase in even more users, combined with the increased affordability of recording solutions and video switchers, means that the number of multicam projects is bound to grow as well.”

Multicam Logger is available now for EUR 695, USD 995.
