(New York, New York--July 23, 2012) IKA Collective, the creative production/post studio led by director Ian Karr, has signed with Peleton Entertainment, New York, the respected television agency that specializes in the development of reality and documentary content. Some of the popular shows Peleton Entertainment are involved with include A&E’s “Hoarders” and “Dog the Bounty Hunter”; History Channel’s “Pawn Stars”; and MTV’s “Pranked.”
In addition, IKA has also signed a non-exclusive syndication deal with AOL’s 5min Media to showcase its documentary series “The Midnight Archives.” Click here to watch a recent episode of The Midnight Archive on AOL that delves into the history of the Ouija Board.
For Karr, the opportunity to work with Peleton Entertainment President Robert Miller, coupled with the company’s deal with AOL, represents two major steps forward in IKA’s goal of expanding into the long-form content production realm.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Rob, and I’ve watched how he’s grown Peleton over the last four years into a major force in reality/documentary programming,” Karr says. “He appreciates our sensibility, which emphasizes storytelling first and foremost, and our ability to produce and post everything in-house.”
Miller adds, "We’re excited to be working with Ian and his team at IKA Collective. We are very selective in the clients that we represent. But, we feel that IKA's strong short-form background, their ability to tell great stories and their technical know how have provided them with the necessary skills to succeed in the reality world. Our goal is to help them navigate the non-scripted space, work with them on their development and allow them to do what they do best–produce great content."
Regarding IKA’s deal for “The Midnight Archive” to air on AOL’s 5min Media channel Karr notes, “In the last few years the AOL brand has reinvented itself as a major hub for diverse, original content, and we’re proud to bring some edgy programming into the mix.”
Created by IKA Collective Editor/Director Ronni Thomas, “The Midnight Archive” pulls back the curtain on some of the most eccentric and least explored characters. The show introduces viewers to such originals as: Sorceress Cagliastro, who will happily mummify your pet, and perhaps even you one day; tattoo artist Sue Jeiven, who in her spare time turns Brooklyn roadkill into Victorian-styled tableaus; and Mitch Horowtiz, who will take you on a guided occult tour of New York City.
"With TMA we wanted to bring a high-level aesthetic and TV storytelling sensibilities to the web,” Karr adds. “Ronni has created something hauntingly beautiful and unique."
