(Universal City, California--September 19, 2012) Cynthia Klar has been named Vice President, Sales and Operations, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution, it was announced today by Frances Manfredi, President, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution.
In her new role, Klar, who reports into Phyllis Bagdadi, SVP, Non-Theatrical Sales, NBCUniversal Cable & New Media Distribution, will continue to oversee the sales of NBCUniversal television portfolio, including Comcast’s content, to worldwide airlines and the non-theatrical market which includes cruise ships, colleges, schools and the Armed Forces. In addition, Klar will now also handle the distribution of feature films from Universal Pictures and Focus Features to the division’s worldwide client base.
“Cynthia has played an instrumental role in the development of our non-theatrical and airline sales group. Cynthia’s strong relationships in the industry coupled with her tremendous knowledge of the evolving business position her as an invaluable member of our team,” said Manfredi.

Previously, Klar held the role of Director, Sales & Operations, NBC Universal Television Distribution since 2008 and oversaw NBCU’s television content on airlines, in multiple languages, including critically acclaimed series: “30 Rock,” “The Office,” “Suits,” “Parenthood” and “Parks and Recreation.” Klar was also responsible for the department’s operations to maximize sales worldwide and for successfully negotiating numerous television output deals of NBCU’s television content across airline carriers worldwide.
In 2001, Klar was Manager, Non-Theatrical, NBC Universal Television Distribution where she supported the sales team in marketing initiatives and sales across all non-theatrical businesses.
Klar began her career with the company in 1991, prior to the NBC and Universal merger with MCA/Universal, and also previously held roles at the Walt Disney Company in their non-theatrical division.
Klar holds a B.A. in Sociology from UCLA and resides in Los Angeles with her husband, 10 year old daughter and 3 dogs.
