(Maywood, New Jersey--January 23, 2013) To stay on top of a growing schedule of Northeast college sports, HD broadcast and cable production, and more calls for a fast-expanding fleet of mobile production trucks. That's exactly the strategy at CSP Mobile, which has officially launched its new HD2 unit with 10 Ikegami HDK-77EC HD Native Multi-Format CMOS cameras.
CSP outfitted HD2 with the HDK-77EC after putting 16 of the versatile Ikegami cameras onboard the two other video trucks in their fleet. "We've been extremely happy with the performance and reliability of our Ikegami HDK-77EC's, and it was the obvious decision to add them to HD2," says Len Chase, President/Co-Owner of CSP Mobile Productions. "We get extremely high resolution imagery from them, in 720p or 1080i."
Ikegami's HDK-77EC is an economical docking-style portable multi-format HD camera with CMOS imaging sensors for 1080i/720p HD format flexibility, lower power consumption, and reduced operating temperature. Adding to their flexibility is the ability to quickly switch between fiber or triax cable use, making them a valuable asset as CSP encounters both platforms frequently.
With the 16 HDK-77EC cameras already in his inventory, preceded by a long-running group of Ikegami SD cameras, Chase and his crews have come to expect total reliability from Ikegami - backed up by highly attentive customer support. "We've got NFL football, college football, the NBA and college basketball all happening at once," he notes. "This is our frantic time, but we know we can count on Ikegami cameras."
The integrator for HD2 was Little Bay Broadcast Services, which also helped CSP Mobile to build its HD1 mobile unit. "It made all the sense in the world to go with Ikegami on HD2," says David Raynes, Partner in Little Bay. "As CSP Mobile has seen first-hand, Ikegami cameras are ideal in the field for sports, entertainment, and news: The HDK-77EC is robust and rugged, and Ikegami's colorimetry has always been phenomenal."
HD2 is rolling full speed ahead, and Ikegami HDK-77EC cameras are a consistent common thread with the rest of the CSP Mobile HD fleet. "Failure is not an option in mobile production," Len Chase states. "We've been in the business since 1989, and we've only owned Ikegami. It's a name that CSP Mobile can depend on."
