(London, UK--March 27, 2013) Eyeheight will introduce four additions to its geNETics range of signal processors to American broadcasters and post production companies at the 8-11 April NAB Show in Las Vegas. Exhibiting on booth C6516, Eyeheight will be represented by Sales Director Martin Moore with colleagues from US master reseller Leader Instruments Corporation.
Now in its 14th year of development, the high-reliability geNETics product family encompasses audio descriptors, audio loudness conformers, color correctors, emergency switchers, mixers and keyers, safe area generators, subtitling decoders, text and graphics generators, timecode processors, video legalizers and widescreen signal generators. All geNETics products are fully compatible with each other via Eyeheight protocol, RS232/422 or TCP/IP, and can be operated using an intuitive menu-based control system.
All multi-format modules in the geNETics series are fully compatible with 1080i/50/59.94, 1080p/23.976/24/25/29.97, 720p/50/59.84, 625/50 and 525/59.94 broadcast standards.
NAB Show 2013 debut: Eyeheight AV-2M multi-format emergency switcher
The Eyeheight AV-2M is an SD-HD SDI emergency switcher which will perform a clean transition to a secondary source if the primary channel falls below user-adjustable parameters. Designed for applications such as broadcast playout, it provides continuous automatic monitoring for SDI carrier loss, video frozen/black, video format errors, audio loss, audio silence and audio format errors. Any combination of these conditions can be preset to operate a synchronous switch locked to the reference input. A 1 video line window ensures clean transition to the secondary source.
Recommended default durations are provided for each sensed switching condition and can also be adjusted by the user. The AV-2M has two IEEE-488 GPI inputs for switch over-ride plus an IEEE-488 GPO output indicating the alarm state. It is equipped with primary and secondary inputs, a reference input and three outputs. A mechanical relay bypass can also be used to switch from the primary input to output 1.
An audio loudness level conformance option is available for the AV-2M. This uses EBU-approved BS.1770 short term and momentary algorithms to control up to four stereo pairs on the embedded audio stream.
NAB Show 2013 debut: AD-2EM multi-format audio descriptor
Eyeheight's AD-2EM audio descriptor enables broadcasters to monitor pre-encoded data containing audio and pan/fade information. Designed for use in master control rooms and playout suites, it decodes audio description and control data from audio embedded in the HD-SDI transport stream; an in-vision display of audio level, fade and pan information is then generated. A status bar shows audio description errors such as swapped or inverted data. This display can be hidden and locked for automatic on-air use by audio description decoders. A mix of audio description and program audio is provided on embedded group 1, channels 3 and 4, with correct pan and fade response. Raw program audio is also embedded on channels 3 and 4 in the absence of a valid audio descriptor control track. In-vision error reporting is provided.
NAB Show 2013 debut: LE-2M-K multi-format logging legalizer
Unlike traditional video legalizers or automated loudness control devices, the new LE-2M-K logging legalizer keeps a timed record of every non-compliant video or audio event requiring correction in the course of a 24-hour transmission schedule. This enables broadcasters to archive as-run conformance data in countries where legislation makes this compulsory. Each action is logged complete with its linear timecode identifier. Video legalization and loudness correction timelines can also be monitored on-screen. Video legalization can be performed to conform with SMPTE or EBU standard settings and 7.5 IRE or 0 IRE Pedestal. Six user memories and common presets are incorporated.
Additional features of the LE-2M-K include Eyeheight's unique clobbeRing automatic luma overshoot and undershoot suppression together with luma and chroma gain, black level adjustment, hue rotation, adjustable clipping levels and soft-clipping-knee levels. An 'out-of-gamut' indication feed displays overshoot or undershoot severity and shows the user where on the picture any signal correction is being performed.
In the audio domain, the LE-2M-K provides automatic real-time control of perceptual loudness and true peak level using ITU-R BS.1770 multi-channel loudness and true-peak estimation algorithms. These are coupled with proprietary correction algorithms to ensure compliance with loudness and peak program level requirements. Embedded stereo or surround audio loudness are continuously monitored, system gain being seamlessly adjusted across all channels to stay within the loudness limit while preserving audio imaging.
NAB Show 2013 debut: EB-9 dual-card chassis
Eyeheight's new EB-9 dual-card chassis offers an economical alternative to the standard six-module FB-9 for systems in which the six-card capacity and optional secondary power supply of the standard FB-9E Flexi-Box are not required. An integral I-Bus control interface allows the EB-9 to be operated from a remote panel via standard Category 5 Ethernet cable and RJ45 connectors. Each module can alternatively be controlled locally or remotely via an optional Eyeheight FP-9 front panel. The EB-9 has a standard 1U form factor and comes complete with a 25 watt internal power supply accepting 100 to 250 volts alternating-current. Rear-panel connectivity includes panel and I-Bus interfaces, two additional Ethernet ports, 10 coaxial SDI ports and the mains input.
) designs and manufactures 3G, 3D and HD-SDI equipment for program-origination, quality-assurance, post-production, playout and associated areas. This includes audio descriptors, audio loudness conformers, color correctors, emergency switchers, mixers and keyers, safe area generators, subtitling decoders, text and graphics generators, timecode processors, video legalizers and widescreen signal generators. Eyeheight products are available worldwide.
