(NAB 2013, Las Vegas--April 8, 2013) TMD, the leading provider of asset management systems for digital and physical assets, has extended its already market-leading functionality for audiovisual archives. Mediaflex Collections provides a complete asset management strategic solution for government, cultural and commercial archives which embraces physical as well as digital assets. The latest extensions to the functionality will be shown at NAB 2013.
Social, political and cultural archives are increasingly swamped in acquisitions and are seeking cost effective and highly efficient ways of managing content. The challenges for these archives include the requirement to manage data on bulk acquisitions, perhaps as whole collections are given to the institution, and to provide consistent management of assets whether they are in digital form, in physical form but awaiting restoration and ingest, or will remain in physical form, perhaps because they are a valuable artefact.
New enhancements to Mediaflex Collections include the ability to import and manage bulk data by creating new media records, and extensions to the tracking and reporting during acquisition and accession. Mediaflex’s inherent ability to allow the user to create workflows is here used to create templates for data mapping, and re-use of work in complex environments. The system also now includes additional reporting dashboards to help curators and archivists track very large numbers of acquisitions.
“We have worked with huge audiovisual archives around the world, and this gives us a unique insight into what they really need as an asset management platform,” said Tony Taylor, chairman and CEO of TMD. “Our continuing enhancements to Mediaflex Collections reflect the developments we have put in place for major government and cultural archives. In turn, these facilities will become increasingly important in broadcast asset management, particularly for major broadcasters who have huge back catalogues and related memorabilia.”
The complete TMD Mediaflex platform can be seen on booth N3425
at NAB 2013, 8 – 11 April in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
