(Seattle, Washington--May 24, 2013) Seattle design-driven production company thenewBlank announced today the hire of Tom Leonard as Director of Business Development. He will report to Co-Creative Directors Bobby Hougham and Sevrin Daniels, and lead all new business efforts for the company as well as head the company’s new incubator space in Chicago.
Leonard, a seasoned business development director and award-winning producer has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment and advertising production arena. He rejoins former colleague Sevrin Daniels who he worked with previously at Digital Kitchen.
“I think most people will agree that whenever possible, work with people you like and enjoy. I’m excited to be reunited with Sevrin, and involved with the whole team at
thenewBlank. Bobby and I have worked for a number of the same companies in the past, and Kelly and I have both worked in San Francisco, so working with this team is like being home, truly. My experience in producing, and now business development, makes me a perfect fit for the company, and the role. They’ve built a wonderfully creative company, and I’m looking forward to growing the business and helping them take it to the next level. ”
Earlier in his career, Leonard held positions at Imaginary Forces, Butler, Shine & Stern, Hoffman Lewis, Digital Kitchen, Rhythm & Hues, and Pittard Sullivan. His roster of accounts and clients includes DDB, Budweiser, McDonalds, Paramount Studios, Lucas Arts, Toyota, Warner Bros., Target, Mazda, Game Show Network, and Peter Gabriel, among others.
Said tnB Co-Creative Director Sevrin Daniels, “Tom and I go way back to the Digital Kitchen days together. It is at the same time comfortable and exciting to know that even though sales is awkward at best from the creative’s viewpoint, the guy representing your company has built his career on the same foundation. This prior relationship, and shared pedigree with our other key members, really gives him huge amounts of insight into our work, a unique understanding of our processes, creative ideology and the benefit of mutual experience.”
During the recession thenewBlank restructured and refocused their efforts to concentrate on the local market even though the company had always been driven to pull work into Seattle, celebrating this city's creative scene on a national and international level. When 2012 signaled the official end of the economic downturn, it allowed thenewBlank to grow and shift their vision back to their original business model. Leonard will lead the charge to continue to secure new national work, which includes managing the company’s new incubator office in Chicago.
Kelly Green, Executive Producer at thenewBlank noted, “Tom's knowledge and extensive experience in the motion design world are a perfect complement to tnB's
collaborative style of production and design. He gets it, and understands the potential in every project. His deep knowledge in entertainment and advertising will help elevate our integrated production offerings. We’re excited to have him on board.”
