(Montclair, NJ--June 13, 2013) Bruce Lee is a legend. Actor, teacher, writer, director, and philosopher, he was largely responsible for introducing Asian martial arts to the West. He embodied speed, strength, and charisma. He had an energy that ignited and inspired people all around the world, and he was famous for his physical and mental prowess.

Authorized by Bruce Lee Enterprises, The Treasures of Bruce Lee (Applause Books, May 2013, $45) by Paul Bowman tells the story of this unique man, from his early childhood, to his career, to his death and legacy. Painstakingly researched, this scrapbook-style biography discusses Bruce Lee’s projects (such as his films and the development of his own martial art) as well as his overall philosophy.

As a bonus, The Treasures of Bruce Lee comes with five posters, fifteen pieces of removable memorabilia, and rare photos, including stills from footage shot for Game of Death, the film Bruce Lee died before completing. Tucked into pockets of the book are never-before-seen documents from the Lee family archives. There are handwritten letters and poems, hand-drawn illustrations, replicas of an original cinema lobby card and film premier name badge, a get well card from Steve McQueen, and real Bruce Lee stickers.

This official Bruce Lee biography tells the stories of Hollywood (from the Green Hornet to Enter the Dragon), the creation of his Jeet Kune Do martial art, and the concepts and thinkers who shaped his philosophy that has inspired so many.

Paul Bowman, PhD, is a lecturer, martial artist, and serious Bruce Lee fan. He teaches cultural studies at Cardiff University. He is an expert on the phenomenon that is Bruce Lee, and he wrote Theorizing Bruce Lee: Film – Fantasy – Fighting – Philosophy, Beyond Bruce Lee: Chasing the Dragon Through Film, Philosophy and Popular Culture, and The Rey Chow Reader, as well as many other academic books and papers. He is often called on to comment on Bruce Lee in the media, including for the BBC, and he appears in the 2012 documentary movie I Am Bruce Lee.
