(London, United Kingdom--September 25, 2013) The Camera Store (TCS), a Vitec Group company which supplies broadcast camera support systems for rental, reports a successful IBC2013 with the first exhibition appearance of its recently introduced Skquattro Mk2 pedestal.

"The Skquattro Mk2 is unique in combining all the features of the industry's most advanced studio column with a base which gives it true versatility both in studios and on location," comments Tim Highmoor, head of rentals at TCS. The combination of a Vinten Quattro column and a Grip Factory Munich (GFM) Secondo base can be used as a conventional floor pedestal and a tracking pedestal."

"We approached Marcus Buetefuer at GFM and asked him to adapt their Secondo base to take one of our pedestal columns. The aperture opening in the Secondo meant there was room to drop in a Vinten Quattro column using a spacer ring and some clever engineering. We had already seen a large number of rentals for our original Skquattro and felt there was an opportunity to integrate separately engineered pieces from the two respected companies together to make a unique new camera mount which does more than the original Skquattro. Unlike a conventional Vinten OB Quattro, the new unit breaks down into two component parts, column and base, which allows rigging teams to split the weight."

"This co-operation with TCS has resulted in a highly versatile production tool which will be greatly appreciated for its ability to deliver smooth vertical and lateral camera movement from practically any floor or ground-based location," adds Marcus Buetefuer. "The Skquattro Mk 2 incorporates four pairs of pneumatic-tyred wheels and four grooved track-wheels. The pneumatic-tyred wheels allow easy transport to and from a delivery vehicle or to an outside broadcast location. Solid-tyred wheels can be fitted in place of the pneumatic tyres to allow traditional wheeled OB or studio operation."
