NBC Sports Regional Networks Launches Rebrand of Signature News Program: SportsNet Central


Daily News Show Features New Identity and Graphics Package, Designed in Partnership with Troika

(Stamford, Connecticut--April 24, 2014) With the return of Major League Baseball and the culmination of the NBA and NHL regular seasons, April represents one of the most action-packed months of the year for NBC Sports Regional Networks. Currently serving hometown fans in more than 50 million U.S. Households with live event coverage and Emmy Award-winning News and Original Programming, NBC Sports Group’s lineup of Comcast SportsNet RSNs has chosen this month to launch a comprehensive rebrand of their signature news and highlights program: "SportsNet Central."

The rebrand combines the entertainment prestige of NBC Sports’ flagship properties with the local sensibilities of NBC Sports Regional Networks. Heightened production value will re-introduce the program to local sports fans while region-specific colors and iconography are incorporated into the graphics package.

Designed from the creative concept “Grand Central,” the new SportsNet Central identity is built within an engaging graphic environment that acts as the central hub to plug into the latest news and highlights. The rebrand includes a new SportsNet Central logo, show open, show packaging elements, and promotional system.

“We work very hard to make SportsNet Central the best local TV sports coverage available, and wanted to re-energize the program for our viewers,” said Tom Stathakes, SVP of Production and Programing, NBC Sports Regional Networks. “The size and scale of SportsNet Central’s new identity is both epic and personal, built to deliver the biggest stories in sports, as well as key developments in the local communities we serve.”

The revamped SportsNet Central was built in collaboration with entertainment and marketing innovations agency Troika, who kicked off the initiative with onsite intakes with NBC Sports Regional Network executives, and delivered the rebrand in a toolkit format for each region to easily update as the program’s content shifts throughout sports seasons.
