Territory Editor and Founder Terry King is Honored with The 2014 AICE ‘Best of Automotive’ Award for Cadillac’s Captivating Spot, “Monkey Do”

(Ferndale, Michigan--May 23, 2014) Territory founder and editor Terry King,was honored by AICE with the 2014 ‘Best Automotive’ Award for his artful cutting of Cadillac’s commercial, ‘Monkey Do,' which premiered during the broadcast of the Winter Olympics.

Territory set up shop in LA for the project, allowing King to work closely with the director and client on the commercial. After completing the majority of the cutting on the coast, King brought the elements back to Territory in Detroit, where he took advantage of the 13,000 square foot editor-driven postproduction facility’s bells and whistles for some final tweaking.

Directed by Jeffery Plansker, formerly of S&D Integrated (now with BReel,) the :30 commercial opens with a single Charlie the Chimp wind-up toy positioned dead center in front of a Cadillac CTS as it begins clashing its cymbals. Soon dozens of identical monkeys are revealed, perched on stark white pedestals surrounding the vehicle, and begin to chime in. The sound of their instruments builds to a deafening decibel level, bringing home just how effective The CTS’s new Bose Active Noise Cancellation System actually is.
