(Nashua, New Hampshire--June 14, 2014) NextComputing, manufacturer of portable and small footprint workstations and servers, announces its newest innovation, the Radius PRM. This new system provides the massive storage potential and enterprise-level computing performance of a rackmount server in a transportable chassis with a flip-up monitor.

Key features unique to the Radius PRM include:
  • Built-in flip-up 1920x1080 LCD or touch screen with a cover to protect the screen in transit
  • Up to 24 processor cores and 512GB memory
  • Up to 24 hot-swappable 2.5” hard drives including SATA, SAS, or enterprise-class, high-endurance Solid State drives, up to 1.2TB each with multiple RAID configuration options
  • Up to 7 PCI Express 3.0 slots for graphics, RAID, networking, GP GPU co-processing, and high-performance I/O cards
  • Modular design, easy to service
  • Travel bag and optional rolling hard case with telescoping handle

The Radius PRM is a portable system with an optional rack-mount kit. With its compact form factor, built-in LCD, and briefcase handle, it can tackle the most demanding applications wherever you need to be. The speed, scalable processing power, and high-performance storage make the Radius PRM ideal for applications such as packet capture, data streaming, and a range of intense processing, algorithmic, and virtual applications.

Bob Labadini, CTO of NextComputing, relates that the “Radius PRM is now our highest-performance portable, optimized for data streaming and recording applications that also require a high level of processing and memory. The PRM includes the very latest Ivy Bridge-EP architecture from Intel, high-speed PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, adjustable LED display, and the latest enterprise class storage including high-endurance Solid State Drives with SED/FIPS 140-2 encryption options. Yet, the system is modular so our OEMs and customers can select different combinations of functionality for their specific needs. This platform furthers our mission to deliver innovative, deployable, application-specific appliances that provide solutions to the toughest and new emerging computing demands.”

Like all NextComputing products, the Radius PRM can be customized in more ways than just internal hardware. For OEM product developers and systems integrators, NextComputing offers custom branding with your logo, software validation, PCI Express card integration, product configuration control, and other services to ensure your appliance is delivered consistently every time.
