(Montreal, Canada--July 29, 2014) As fans around the world gathered to cheer for their favorite teams, live production studios were relying on state-of-the-art solutions for creating engaging content, including program highlights and replays. Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, supplied Ten Sports Pakistan Beam, based in Film City, Noida and owned by Zee Entertainment Ltd., with one K2 Dyno Replay System and one K2 Summit 3G Production Client for the production of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Grass Valley provided training and on-site support to ensure that Ten Sports was up and running quickly with its new solution.
“Our production team was very pleased with the performance and ease-of-use of the new Grass Valley solution,” said Hemant Buch, head of production, Ten Sports. “We made the change to the Grass Valley solution close to an important global event, which was a little unsettling, but we are so glad we did. Grass Valley was with us every step of the way, and the results met all of our expectations.”
For Ten Sports, one of the primary advantages of utilizing K2 Dyno was the ability to very quickly produce highlight packages and playlists for specific players or teams. This was particularly important this year, given the number of late goals and penalty kick situations. The group was able to set up replays right away and use those highlights in the studio programs that immediately followed the games.
“K2 Dyno was easy to install and set up—involving much less infrastructure. We look forward to using K2 Dyno again for our upcoming events,” said Sanjeev Bhargav, vice president of engineering, Ten Sports.
The K2 Dyno is a complete solution that addresses file-based live production requirements before, during, and after events. Developed with extensive operator input, K2 Dyno is easy to learn and easy to use for compelling instant replay and highlight generation for SD, HD, 3G, UHD/4K with pan/zoom technology, as well as high-speed frame rate productions with Grass Valley’s LDX camera systems. The Grass Valley K2 Summit 3G Production Client delivers speed and stability for live event production, offering an embedded OS and three levels of processing along with codec support in DV, AVC-I, MPEG 2 and DNxHD formats as well as compatibility between HD and SD as standard.
“The live production market in India is very dynamic, with a variety of technology solutions offered by a number of vendors,” noted Steve Ronneberg, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Grass Valley. “This installation is significant, as it gives us an opportunity to show the power of our solutions in a real-world setting and create a larger group of trained professionals in the region. Ten Sports is a real leader in the market and this relationship is very beneficial for both of our companies.”
