The Mill Announces New Investment for Mill Color, with Three New Color Talent Hires, Promotions and the Launch of New York’s First Dedicated Commercials 4K Suite

(New York, United States--September 2, 2014) Mill Color is thrilled to announce the expansion of its globally renowned colorist team by introducing three new hires across its US studios. Mill Color in New York welcomes Aline Sinquin as senior colorist with Dave Ludlam joining Mill LA, also in the role of senior colorist. Coinciding with the arrival is the hire of Thatcher Peterson as executive producer color in the Los Angeles Mill studio.



Alongside the new arrivals, Mikey Rossiter is promoted to colorist in New York. All of the new investment in talent and creative technology serves to reinforce the global Mill Color offering, and brings the team to 11 strong with Adam Scott, Aline Sinquin, Dave Ludlam, Fergus McCall, Gregory Reese, James Bamford, Luke Morrison, Matt Osborne, Mick Vincent, Mikey Rossiter and Seamus O’Kane.

As part of The Mill’s continued focus on expanding the capabilities of its color offering, The Mill NY has also opened a 4K Color Suite. The 15-seat theater boasts one of only two Barco DCI 4K projectors in New York, and 5.1-surround sound that has been custom-built and designed in collaboration with acoustician-sound company, Armadillo.

About the team:
Aline joins Mill Color from MPC, and her creative energy and passion is apparent in her entire body of work having worked across so many brands and with many leading directors. She has an extraordinary understanding of color and an eye for perfect, flawless pictures, as well as having an incredible reputation for beauty collaborations. Her list of brands is extensive from Chanel, Dior, Heineken, Kenzo, L'Oréal, Maybelline, Nina Ricci, PRADA, Samsung, Thierry Mugler and Vodaphone. She has collaborated with some of the world’s leading directors including Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson, Romain Gavras, Kim Gehrig, Nick Gordon, Stacey Wall, Michel Gondry and Tim Walker to name a few.

Dave comes to Mill Color from Framestore UK, where he was head of color. He has 26 years of experience working in VFX including 16 years as a senior colorist. His experience allows him to understand and offer complex technical solutions from a unique perspective. Dave’s ability to define the look, feel and texture across all his work means he is in constant demand. He has created beautiful visuals on many high profile projects ranging from Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Live at the Apollo,’ Chemical Brothers’ ‘Salmon Dance,’ Xbox’s ‘Mosquito’ to Levi's ‘Odyssey,’ and U2’s ‘Staring at the Sun.’ He has collaborated with an impressive array of top directors including Dante Ariola, Daniel Barber, DOM&NIC, Neil Harris, Daniel Kleinman and Steve Ayson. 

Thatcher enters The Mill’s LA studio from Company 3, where he was a member of the 1997 founding team. He brings with him a staggering 17 years of experience orchestrating the color grading of commercials and music videos. His client list is equally impressive, working on iconic spots including Nike's 'Find Your Greatness' directed by Lance Acord & Seb Edwards, Volkswagen’s 'The Force' by Lance Acord and Halo: Reach's 'Deliver Hope' by Noam Murro. He has also worked with directors Spike Jonze, Michael Bay and Tom Kuntz.

Mikey is a true example of The Mill’s longstanding credentials for nurturing young, up-and-coming talent. He joined Mill Color in London in 2007 and quickly became known for his beautifully visceral work on music videos. He moved to Mill Color in New York in 2010 as a junior colorist and grew his body of work and cutting edge reputation by collaborating on projects including Vogue Original Shorts’ ‘Braids’ starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o and directed by Austin Peters, Mumford and Sons’ ‘Whispers in the Dark’ music promo, directed by Jim Canty and Major Lazer’s ‘Sweat’ promo, directed by Ryan Staake.


About Mill Color’s 4K Color Suite:
The 15-seat screening suite boasts one of only two Barco DCI 4K projectors in New York, and incudes 5.1-surround sound that has been custom-built and designed in collaboration with Armadillo to create the room’s precise acoustics. During the design, the team created a complete sound analysis of the room and mapped out the exact placement of sound panels and speakers to ensure the most acoustically verdant and accurate space possible.

The 16-foot screen, projector and lenses were specifically chosen to maximize the crystal clear visual reproduction and quality; and were meticulously calibrated to create the best visual experience.



Every detail was thought-out to the highest Mill Color standard and the 4K Color Suite will offer The Mill’s clients with a viewing environment that produces vibrant image quality and lush sounds.
