(New York, New York--November 18, 2014) New York-based production company BaseCamp Entertainment is pleased to welcome multidisciplinary creative Carlos Perez to its directorial roster. With more than 17 years of experience transforming brands, Perez positions the company for continued growth in the U.S. Hispanic market producing high-end commercials and branded content. Perez is also the founder of Elastic People, a Miami-based design agency specializing in integrated branding campaigns for global brands and celebrities.

“Carlos dynamically bolsters our roster,” remarks Mary Pepper Pimienta, owner/executive producer of BaseCamp Entertainment. “Between his remarkable creative background and breadth of advertising and branding experience, he’s a huge asset to the ever-changing needs of our existing U.S. Hispanic market clients.”

Weaving film, design and branding, Perez has creative directed campaigns for Nike, Reebok, Pepsi, ABC, Trump and Deutsche Bank. His unique sensibility for U.S. Latin cultures forms the foundation of his creative vision. Collaborating with clients from diverse industry sectors, he is equally valued for his bilingual business savvy.

“It's no mystery that the Latino market is the fastest growing in the U.S.,” says Pimienta. “It’s a trend that has naturally shifted BaseCamp into a general market that is now embracing the Hispanic market more than ever. We’re even seeing minority agencies marry Hispanic campaigns to the general market, and they inherently want multicultural directors like Carlos who can execute across multiple markets and platforms. From Hispanic Americans to the different regions and cultures of Latin America, no director understands the nuances of these markets better than he does.”

With longstanding creative relationships with celebrities such as Mana, Daddy Yankee, Ricky Martin, and Marc Antony, among scores more, Perez says U.S. brands are courting Latino artists in order to broaden their footprint domestically and abroad. Moreover, he believes his experience transforming the images of celebrities has freed him to create and influence new interpretations for the U.S. consumer market via BaseCamp.

“There’s great crossover between entertainment and advertising,” explains Perez. “The world of pop culture constantly presents an element of reinvention that pushes you to strive for the cutting-edge when working across modern design and filmmaking mediums. And no matter what language you speak, it all lends to great creative.”

As celebrity branding and advertising continues to trend, Pimienta notes that Perez meets today’s common general market need: commercial directors with celebrity production experience. “Carlos’ celebrity resumé is unrivaled,” she says. “He knows how to work with them and gain their trust.”

Perez began his career in the advertising industry as a graphic designer at The Designory in Los Angeles, and later became Creative Director of sister company Pinkhaus in Miami. At Pinkhaus, he guided the brand images of Bacardi, Mercedes-Benz, Island Outpost and ABC, among many other brands.

In addition to the aforementioned branding campaigns, the studio was integral to successful marketing campaigns for major record labels, including Interscope, Atlantic, Sony Music Latin, and Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Other music industry highlights include branding and marketing initiatives for 25 Grammy-nominated albums and as many RIAA-certified Platinum albums with combined music video views that have surpassed 1 billion.

From Europe to North and South America, Perez’s designs have exhibited worldwide. As a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and the Miami University of Art & Design, he is also a frequent film/design speaker and lecturer.

“I've always valued growing with clients and nurturing longstanding relationships, so BaseCamp’s history of repeat business was a big draw for me,” concludes Perez. “It's easy to see that Pepper [Mary Pepper Pimienta] and her team go above and beyond. I look forward to collaborating with their agency clients, working hand-in-hand with and for creatives.”
