Experimental YouTube Channel for Innovators, YouTube Spaces and 1stAveMachine launch Field Day

(May 29, 2015) AtYouTube Spaces, the fundamental mission is to bring together the most creative people in the world to generate innovative content that audiences around the globe will enjoy. A big part of that mission takes place inside the walls of YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, New York, London, Tokyo, São Paulo, and more recently Berlin, where creators of all sizes are creating engaging content that pushes the limits of their creativity.

Since launching in 2012, the Spaces have have produced over 10,000 videos which have generated over 1 Billion views and 70+ million hours of watchtime. You can see many of these video on YouTube Spaceschannel.

To showcase some of this innovation, YouTube Spaces is launching a new channel with the support of production company1stAveMachinecalledField Day.This experimental channel will feature a curated stream of individual videos from dynamic content creators who will push the boundaries of their creativity through the use of enhanced production tools and unique locations.

The first four creators that teamed up with the Spaces team embody the spirit and passion of Field Day:

  • Vsauce (8.7 millions subscribers) - Field Day provided Michael Stevens an expert documentary crew and a plane ticket to a remote location so he that he could take his popular brand of educational videos out of the studio and to Whittier, Alaska. With a population of 222 and only accessible by land via a single lane, two mile tunnel that stretches through many of Alaska’s most dangerous mountains and glaciers, Michael wanted to see what makes the residents tick.

  • (377 thousand subscribers) - If you had a crystal ball and could gaze into the future, how would you feel seeing the love of your life as a 50-year-old? Or even older, as a 70-year-old? As a 90-year-old? With the aid of Field Day, Cut was paired with a team of special makeup-fx artists, so they could physically transform the loving, bride-and-groom-to-be in their 20’s up through the years into their 90’s, using life-cast molds and countless amounts of prosthetic makeup to complete the metamorphosis. The end product is an emotional journey, a heartwarming and tear-jerking experience for all, performer and viewer alike.

  • Game Theorists (4.4 million subscribers) - YouTube personality, MatPat and his channel, Game Theory, is famous for myth-busting the accuracy of popular video games through extensive research and expert theories and facts. In Game Theory’s latest series, Reality Check, MatPat and crew head off the couch and into the air to test the physics of the Star Fox video game. Field Day helped pair MatPat with a stunt pilot so that he could take to the skies and attempt the same daredevil aerial movements seen in the Star Fox video game. Fox McCloud himself would be impressed, but, the question remains: are these the same moves Fox does in his own ship?

  • Amymarie Gaertner (296 thousand subscribers) - Amymarie is an upcoming dance superstar. See what happens when Field Day teams up Amymarie with visionary director Karim Zariffa, a new hit song from YouTube DJ Steve Porter and an army of backup dancers with a twist? Instead of human dancers, Amymarie leads 189 remote-control cars and several flying drones draped in white dresses. Forget the sugarplum fairies, this hip-hop ballet has bumpin’ beats and remote-controlled horsepower!
