(LOS ANGELES, California--July 31, 2015) The 2nd Annual SIGGRAPH Birds of a Feather for Freelance Survivors will feature a panel of experts addressing issues relevant to successfully navigating a career as a freelancer. The afternoon session will include refreshments and a raffle. The session is hosted by Pam Hogarth and sponsored by Eido, Starfish Creative and MEDIAmobz. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 11th, from 3 to 5pm in Ballroom 1 of the Courtyard & Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. LIVE at 901 W. Olympic Blvd in Los Angeles.
Panelists include Debra Blanchard Knight, founder of Fringe Talent recruiting who will address careers and hiring; Tony Watson, Enrolled Agent with Robert Hall & Associates Tax Consultants, who will talk taxes and incorporation; Tony Brandt, VES Benefits Insurance Agency, will cover medical and personal insurance; and Mark Leftiz, agent with Transamerica World Financial Group, talking about financial planning for the short and long-term.
“Our goal is to give attendees usable information that is relevant to their current and future career realities,” says Pam Hogarth, session organizer and panel moderator. “It’s tough surviving in a freelance world. We hope to make it a little easier. If nothing else we’ll have some good refreshments.”

The annual SIGGRAPH conference is the largest, five-day, interdisciplinary educational experience in the latest computer graphics and interactive techniques, including a three-day commercial exhibition that attracts hundreds of exhibitors from around the world. Birds of a Feather are informal presentations, discussions, and demonstrations for people who share interests, goals, technologies, environments, or backgrounds. Birds of a Feather events are proposed by SIGGRAPH 2015 attendees. They must be free of charge, related to computer graphics or interactive techniques, and non-commercial in nature (topics specific to one commercial product or for-profit company are not allowed).
