(Las Vegas, NV--April 18, 2016) German media software house Lesspain Software today announced their public beta program for Kyno (http://kyno.software
), a productivity-boosting desktop application for Mac, aimed at filmmakers, video journalists, media agencies and other video professionals.
Kyno combines a number of tools used in common video workflows integrated in a simple user interface. These include a media-aware file browser and a high-performance video-player with features aimed at professional users; a smart conversion engine; an integrated database that allows a user’s drives to be browsed and searched like a media asset management system without the need to import; various productivity-enhancing features such as batch renaming, batch export of subclips and still frame and Excel reports for collaboration. Kyno is designed to be flexible and non-intrusive thus fitting into virtually any video workflow.
It also features specific integration with the leading NLEs Premiere Pro® and Final Cut Pro®.
“We are thrilled to get Kyno out the door and look forward to the feedback from the community of filmmakers and media professionals”, says Robert Krüger, Managing Partner at Lesspain Software. “After a long phase of validating our approach with our pilot customers, ranging from independent filmmakers to one of Europe‘s leading international production houses, we are confident, that people will appreciate what they gain by using Kyno: getting things done faster in a less complicated or cumbersome manner and eliminating many of the frustrations inherent in this jungle of formats and incompatibilities that the world of digital video sometimes presents.
"The main learning from our field tests and close cooperation with our pilot customers is that the basic problems or inefficiencies or requirements, people have in many areas, do not differ too much between video bloggers or indie filmmakers and big production houses. This is where Kyno delivers."
"Kyno is a great all-in-one solution for anyone involved in media production. It offers a variety of options from screening footage to transcoding and makes wrangling files easy“, says a Senior Ingest- & Playout Technician at a global multi-platform media company.
